Optometric Physician

My father, Dr. Walter L. Richardson, established Richardson Vision Clinic in 1962 over half a century ago. Since that time my son Eli, my brother Todd, and his son Brett, have all become optometric physicians. We’re a third generation family owned business committed to caring for you and your family’s eye care needs.

I’ve lived in Forest Grove my entire life. I attended school (K-12) and church here. I worked in the local berry fields, farms, and canneries growing up. Throughout high school I participated in sports, music,

theater and leadership. At age 19, I served a 2 year proselyting mission in French speaking Montreal, Canada. I then attended Brigham Young University, Portland State University and Pacific University. My wonderful wife of over 35 years, Lucie, is a native of Val d’Or, Quebec. We love and enjoy spending time with our four children and four grandchildren. Over the years I've enjoyed tide water fishing  for Chinook salmon and  bow hunting in the coast range.

I love private practice because it is so personal. My patients are my friends. I can

make a positive difference with every patient, every hour of every day I’m in the office. It’s great! After 25 years of practice, I still enjoy it as much as the day I started.

I want you to be happy with your care. I am confident that you will feel welcome and enjoy your experience here. We know you have many choices when it comes to your eye care. We appreciate that you choose us. Thank you for supporting your local businesses—that's what makes Forest Grove special.

I was born and raised right here in Forest Grove. From the beginning, I envisioned myself following in my father's footsteps. I still remember when my father attended Pacific University College of Optometry, and I prepared for the day when I would have the privilege of joining my father in the profession.

My preparations took me to Brigham Young University, where I studied for one year after high school. I then served a  church service mission in Curitiba, Brazil for two years, learning to speak Portuguese fluently, love

the people, and discover a new  culture. Upon my return to the United States, I resumed my studies at BYU.

In 2005, I returned to Forest Grove to help my family after a house fire and to work at the clinic in preparation for graduate studies. With Bachelor's of Science degrees in Exercise Science and Visual Science, I realized a lifelong dream of studying in my hometown at Pacific University College of Optometry from 2006-2010.

During my fourth year of school, my family

and I moved to Chandler, Arizona and Bellingham, Washington for my clinical rotations. I learned valuable skills in providing vision therapy as well as diagnosing and managing ocular disease. I then began to practice with my father in 2010.

If you do not see me at the clinic, I am most likely enjoying my other passions: helping at home with our four young children, tending my garden, studying nutrition, composing music, or learning a Chopin piece on the piano.

"Almost 20 years ago Dr. Richardson hired me fresh out of Forest Grove High School. I took a little hiatus to raise my family and then came back. It's wonderful to work so close to home because I already know so many of you from school, sports and other activities. Over the years I've learned a lot about medical and vision insurance billing and love to share what I know with patients. Please let me know how I can  help you!"

"I am originally from Forest Grove and have worked in healthcare for many years.  What I love most about our practice is the personal touch and interaction I have with our patients in the community. When you call our office, I'll help schedule your appointment. I also love helping with contact lens training and eyewear selection so you look and feel great. I look forward to working with you!"

"I am a native of western Washington County. When Dr. Richardson asked me to come work for him I had no idea how much I would love getting to know our patients personally. We care about your family and really enjoy watching them grow. When you come in for your appointment, I'll be helping you with your check-in, case history, pre-testing and frame selection. We love our patients!"
